not so sure

i just got this machine.
Pros: It is compact. It is easy to set up out of the box. It is attractive. Nice design. it’s not too noisy. It glides well.

Cons: I am 5’7″ and I can see that if I were taller, it might be a problem. I have just started taking pilates classes and I feel this little machine does not really compare to the professional machines. Also, I exercise a bit but am not “that” fit and I need to use the highest tension right off the bat. I haven’t started to use the incline yet, but I will have to get around to it soon. If it wasnt such a hassle/costly to ship it back, I would return it.
I dont know… maybe if you are really out of shape, this would be a good starter machine for you… but overall, I’m not so thrilled. It ia also a v. heavy machine to pull around your home if you ever want to move it or put it away. Amazon says it weighs 60lbs– it feels like more to me.
I bought it because other people gave it good reviews and I need a small machine because I have a v. small apartment.

I hate exercising but know I need to and this is the first piece of equipment that I’ve ever enjoyed using. I love this machine. It is super easy to adjust and appropriate for all levels. I am 6 feet tall and have no problem fitting on the glideboard. I can do all of the exercises in the book and workout for about 45 min or so and not hate it. You can tell your muscles are changing, but it’s not so horrible or painful that you avoid it. I can not say enough good things about this machine. I have bought everything and never used anything for longer than a day or two. I believe this is the only toning machine that anyone should ever need and it is a great price!! I love it

Finally used it and like it.

In 2006 or 2007, I purchased an elliptical from Fitness Quest. Fitness Quest recalled the Elliptical and told us to choose another product. I chose the Pilates Power Gym. I used it one or 2 times and didn’t really like it and it just sat in the corner. Now, unable to sell the darn thing, I am being forced to use it.

The size:
It is just the right size for my house. I like wide open spaces so was concerned about a bulky machine in the house. I rolled it into the kitchen and it doesn’t get in the way.

Ease of use:
At first, I was frustrated. Once I looked at the DVD some of the frustration was relieved. My main problem, however, is the use of the hand straps and the noise. My handstraps don’t seem to want to move all that much and the thing makes a lot of noise.

Results:
I have only started back using it so I can’t tell if there are any results. Since my hand straps are hard to use, I don’t anticipate any upper body results. It seems like it could be good for the lower body though.

Would I recommend the device to others?
No, I would not. I am 5’3 and 120 pounds and I feel like my head is in a box every time I have to lay down on the thing. My body immediately tenses up having my head in a vise like device. Also, I barely fit on the thing and I am 5’3. If I were much taller, I would be very mad having to use this thing. The most frustrating part though is the narrowness of the machine. You have to be tiny to sit on this device and do stretches and so forth.

Like others have stated, if it were not such a hassle to ship it back I would have shipped it back long ago. As it stands, I am going to use the thing for stretching.

Update: I have been using it more to exercise my arms; to get it to move smoothly you have to use heavier resistance and use your body to move the thing back and forth. I wouldn’t buy it again, but it is good for strengthing the arms and legs.

I got this 2 months ago. Actually returned the first one because it wobbled while I used it but the second one works smoothly. I have had Fibromyalgia for 15 years and everything else I have tried has flarred my symptoms. I have had some extra aches after using this but only the kind a “normal” person would have. I love this work-out. The way every exercise balances both sides of your body makes this a real plus for someone with weaknesses on one side or the other. I look forward to using it every day and it really is changing the shape of my body and my over-all feeling of well-being.

The Pilates Power Gym is an amazing workout! I am a 46 y.o female who runs 4-6 miles daily (7 days a week) and am in pretty good physical condition. The workout this machine provides (along w/ the 42 minute workout exercise dvd) is an incredible workout! I can see {after three times} a difference in my body which totally blows me away! I would buy a P.P.G for every person I know and love if I had the money to invest like that!
You will not regret purchasing this machine for one second! Go for it and watch your body transform before your eyes!
